Note: NuPoint Unified Messaging is not supported for MiCollab on MiCloud Flex deployments.
The NuPoint Unified Messaging Web View allows you to access and manage voice, fax, and recorded messages from your e-mail client or Web browser. It also allows you to manage your personal Web View settings, record mailbox greetings, and create and manage personal distribution lists.
The following users have access to the NuPoint Unified Messaging Web view interface:
Note: Users may belong to more than one category. For example, a Standard UM user may also be a Call Director user. Refer to your System Administrator for information about your user profile.
You are a user who is not licensed for the optional features supplied
by the Standard and Advanced UM packages.
UM-SMTP users have basic forwarding of voice and fax messages to
email with no MWI synchronization, and access to the Settings tab of Web
View.
UM-Web View users have access to voice and fax messages from Web View (either in a web browser or inside their email client). You can also access voice, fax, and Record-A-Call messages from the Telephone User Interface (TUI). No email access from the TUI is provided.
You are a user who is licensed with the Message Waiting Indication (MWI) option. You are informed of new voice, Record-A-Call (RAC), and fax messages in your mailbox by the MWI light on your phone. You can manage your voice mail, RAC messages, and Fax messages from a supported e-mail client or Web browser. Voices mail messages are played using a standard media player such as Windows Media Player. Fax messages are viewed from a TIFF viewer such as MS Paint or from PDF viewer such Adobe Acrobat (your administrator will tell you which application you require).
To get started:
Configure your e-mail client (Microsoft® Outlook) and/or Web browser for NuPoint Unified Messaging Web View. You can also access the Web View from Microsoft Office Communicator. See Use Web View with Microsoft Office Communicator.
Note: If you use GroupWise, or do not have a supported e-mail client, you can access the UM features through a web browser.
If you are also a Call Director user, set up Call Director.
If you are also an NP-UM Fax user, set up NP-UM Fax.
Start using the Unified Messaging features from your e-mail client or Web browser.
You are a user who is licensed with the Text-to-Speech (TTS) option and with the Mitel Outlook Client Plug-in (optional). As an Advanced UM user, you can access all of your messages (voice, fax, RAC, and e-mail) from your Microsoft Outlook inbox and from your NP-UM Voice mailbox over the phone. Full MWI synchronization is provided for voice messages that are accessed through the e-mail client, and message status synchronization is provided for e-mails that are listened to from the NP-UM voice mailbox (they are marked as read in the e-mail inbox).
The full integration with Microsoft Exchange and Outlook requires each user to install the Mitel Outlook Client Plug-in (OCP).
OCP for Outlook 2010/2013/2016 installs the Mitel NuPoint UM tab in the ribbon of the Outlook client. The tab enables users to reply to, create, and forward their voice messages, as well as initiate Call Me/Meet Me sessions.
Refer to the NuPoint Unified Messaging Messaging User Guide for the Mitel Outlook Client Plug-in installation instructions.
Note: If you do not install the Outlook Client Plug-in, you can use the default Windows media player in your Microsoft Outlook inbox to play voice messages. However, the Unified Messaging toolbar is not available unless you install the Outlook Client Plug-in.
Text-to-Speech (TTS) functionality enables users to listen to their Microsoft Outlook and Google Mail e-mail messages from their NP-UM Voice mailbox. The text of the email message is converted to speech and played back to the user over the phone.
As an Advanced UM user with TTS, you can also use the Telephone User Interface (TUI) to listen to your voice and email messages. After you log into your mailbox, the system will tell you how many messages you have ("You have 2 unplayed messages, 1 saved message, 3 unplayed emails, and 1 saved email). You can then access the voice mail or email menu and listen to your messages.
Note: If your system experiences a delay obtaining information from the email server, it may be unable to tell you how many email messages you have. To avoid this problem, keep fewer than 10,000 emails in your mailbox.
To get started:
Configure your e-mail client (Microsoft® Outlook) and/or Web browser for NuPoint Unified Messaging Web View. You can also access the Web View from Microsoft Office Communicator. See Use Web View with Microsoft Office Communicator.
Note: If you do not have a supported e-mail client, you can access the UM features through Internet Explorer.
If you are also a Call Director user, set up Call Director.
If you are also an NP-UM Fax user, set up NP-UM Fax.
Start using the Unified Messaging features from your e-mail client or Web browser.
As a Call Director User, you are licensed with the Call Director feature. Call Director allows you to create your own personal auto attendant and call processing applications (call flows) for your mailbox.
For more information on the Call Director feature and how to use the application, refer to the Call Director User Help.

You are a user who is licensed with the NP-UM Fax optional feature. As an NP-UM Fax user, you can send and receive faxes from your NuPoint Unified Messaging mailbox. Depending on your system setup, you will be able to receive, view and print faxes either in either PDF or TIFF format using a viewer such as Acrobat or MS Paint.
With NP-UM Fax, fax documents are stored as electronic fax messages in user mailboxes. From there, faxes can be delivered to any fax machine, sent to other mailboxes, sent over a network, or viewed on a PC (in the Messages tab of Web View).
To get started:
Configure your Web browser (Microsoft® Internet Explorer) and/or e-mail client (Microsoft® Outlook) for NuPoint Unified Messaging Web View. You can also access the Web View from Microsoft Office Communicator. See Use Web View with Microsoft Office Communicator.
Start using the NP-UM fax features from your e-mail client or Web browser.
Note: You can also send a fax using the Fax Printer driver from any application with a Print function. For more information, see the Messaging User Guide.
