UM Audio Encoding

Select the type of UM Audio Encoding to apply to Unified Messaging audio files:

  • ADPCM: (default) Microsoft audio encoding that can be enclosed in a WAV file. Offers smallest file size.

  • GSM 6.10: Audio encoding that supplies wider support for mobile devices. File sizes are slightly larger than ADPCM.

  • MP3: MP3 requires more processing power and much larger file sizes so it is not recommended if another encoding method works.

Notes:

  • MP3 may result in poorer sound quality than the other audio encoding methods. Use MP3 only if ADPCM and GSM 6.10 cannot be played on your device, or if you are using a hosted/webmail web service such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail.

  • The three different audio encoding types are available to all user types.

UM-Web View Email Address

Enter the e-mail address to save your messages from Web View. When you select a message in Web View and click Save you will receive a copy of the message at this e-mail address.

UM-SMTP

UM-SMTP Email Address

Enter an e-mail address. Copies of your voice and fax messages will be forwarded to this address. The email for voice messages will include an audio attachment.

If you have FCOS 285 (Enable STT), choose how to receive your voice messages: Audio Attachment or Speech-to-Text. If you do not have FCOS 285, your voice messages will be sent as Audio Attachments.

Standard

Standard UM Email Address

Enter up to three e-mail addresses and choose how to receive your voice messages (Audio Attachment, Audio Link, Web View Link, Text Notification, or Speech-to-Text).

Notes:

  • If you choose the Audio Link option, listening to a voice mail from your email inbox will mark the voice mail as heard in your voice mail box.

  • The Speech-to-Text option only appears when you are licensed for this feature and have FCOS 285. Enabling STT causes all incoming voice mail messages (except Confidential, Record-a-Call, and Fax messages) to be transcribed into text and sent as email messages the specified address.

  • The Web View Link option only appears if you have FCOS 290.

Advanced

Advanced UM Email Alias

If you are a Microsoft Outlook user, enter your email alias.

Advanced UM Email Address

If you are a Google Mail user, enter your email address.

Contact your system administrator to obtain the correct setting for your implementation.

 Notes:

  • You must have a unique Advanced UM Email Alias/Full Name/Address (i.e. the name must not be used in any other NuPoint mailbox). Duplication of names causes NuPoint to attempt to synchronize two voice mailboxes to one email account, resulting in deletion of all voice messages.

  • If you are using Google Mail, your "urgent" messages will be delivered as regular messages.

Advanced UM Email Password

Enter your Advanced UM login password, and then re-enter it. Contact your system administrator to obtain this setting. A password is not required for Google Mail.

Note: If you change your Advanced UM Email Password, you must enter the new password in the Settings tab. If you fail to update your password, your messages will be rejected by the email client.

Password Confirmation

  1. In the Send Email Fax Confirmation to field, enter an email address or select an address from the list. When you send an outbound fax message, you will receive a message at this address confirming whether the transmission succeeded or failed. Note: If you select Advanced UM Email Address from the list, the system uses the alias or IMAP login name programmed in the Advanced UM Email Username field.

  1. In the Call Me Phone Number field, enter the extension that you want the system to call you at to listen to your voice mail messages and to record greetings and distribution list names. Note: If you do not enter a Call Me number, then the Meet Me button will appear instead in your Web View interface. See Manage Messages: Call Me/Meet Me.

  2. In the Speech Auto-Attendant Default Number field, select the telephone number that you would like to use as the default Speech Auto Attendant number. This is the phone number that will be dialed when someone calls you through the Speech Auto Attendant feature. Note: This field will only display phone numbers previously configured by the System Administrator. You cannot edit these numbers. If you need to change or update your phone number list, contact your System Administrator.

  3. In the Personal Attendant Number field, enter the telephone number or extension of the attendant for your mailbox. This field is optional.

  4. Click Save.
